Valentino was the first to launch a new version of the model that transforms, moves and returns to trends.
Love it or hate it, the gladiator sandal is back in style! Whether on the catwalks of brands like Valentino and Dior, or in street looks, shoes are officially back. This Wednesday (5/25) M fashion show combines shoe options and also helps inspire those who want to join the trend.
Come and choose yours!

The gladiator sandal is nothing more than a sandal with a thread that goes up the leg. It was inspired by the shoes worn by Roman soldiers (think of the hit movie Gladiator in the 2000s) and has since been reinterpreted by many fashion brands, going in and out of the trend list.
In the 60s, Paco Rabanne did wrestling with futuristic and space touches. During the 2000s, he brought back the bohemian, hippie chic of brands like the Chloe sandal. Now, Valentino is reinterpreting shoes.
For spring/summer 2022, the label introduced a knee-length lace-up fighter that ranges in texture from smooth leather to the mods that are a Valentino hallmark. Shortly after this show, Alberta Ferretti and Dior also launched their own brand.

Despite the cold snap in the South, Southeast, and Midwest, there are those planning trips to the Northeast, and it’s a chance to seize the opportunity to incorporate this trend into your beachy look. If not, it may be worth picking up a gladiator to invest in now and use when the temperatures rise.
